Hey yo,
Welcome back. I hope you all had a tremendous holiday season and your new year is off to a rousing start. You can expect a proper BADIHAF installment tomorrow or Thursday (two-hour delay for the kids’ school/daycare this morning, courtesy of icy roads, has thrown my schedule for a bit of a loop).
In the meantime, I wanted to share an essay of mine that was published by the beautiful
just a few days before Christmas. It’s called Maternity Ward. Psych Ward. Repeat. and it tells the story of the night my son was born, a night that found me shuttling back and forth between two vastly different hospital wards, keeping my father-in-law, who was, at the time, committed to the psychiatric lockdown, up-to-date on his daughter’s first labor.
You can find the essay here. I hope you’ll take the time to read it and I hope you enjoy it. And thank you again to Open Secrets for giving this one a home.
Practice peace, spread love, and drink lots of water.
I wrote a comment on the essay expressing how powerful it is and how beautifully you told this overwhelming story. Bravo!
