As a man of faith without religion, I applaud the sentiment. I think many people mistake religion for God instead of a cultures cairns on the path towards spirtuality, enlightment, God. Worshipping the path itself, telling others they are on the wrong path, mocking other signposts, or even following false paths and worshipping those, instead of seeking peace. Lead with Love.
Absolutely. I worship my children, I worship nature, I worship women (through the lens of their being miraculous creatures. Not sexual worship. Though that, too, duh), and I worship my work. Those are my Gods and those are the places I find meaning, peace, and enlightenment. If others find those things in a place or community of worship, I'm happy for them, so long as they let me worship my Gods as I see fit (just as I do them and theirs). Live and let live and whatnot. Or, "lead with love!"
It seems the same people being constantly outraged for the sake of religion are likely the same people who would have crucified Jesus to begin with. They know the book and verse but not the writers intent. I digress.
no doubt. some of the least christlike people i know are some of the most vocal about their devotion to him. Conversely, some of the most christlike people I know are avowed atheists.
Had that exact conversation the other day about two friends I know, one being a Christian worship leader and one being a Hare Krishna and of the two the later shows the love of Christ more to me. I spent 5 years as a traveling evangelist doing mostly youth groups and stuff and got really jaded by it all, I will still say I’m a Christian but very skeptical of the church in most cases and perhaps relegate myself to the realm of heretics because I just opt for love / grace and won’t debate anyone anymore haha.
